Just in is a perfect original unrestored example of a Factory Racing Sand Rail made by the National Glas-Car Inc. of Oldsmar Florida. This is a “Sand Flea” Pull-It model made mostly in kit form & put together by the hobbyist w/parts sold by catalog. This was the vision of Bill Insco from William H. Insco Auto Sales in Dunedin Florida. There was a Team of 3 exact Sand Fleas made to compete in the Eastern Dune Buggy Association (EDBA) that had events from South Georgia thru Florida. It was quite the competitive Sand Rail thru 1973 when that division was shut down. Its super lightweight & has a super moded 1600cc motor that propeled its driver to many victories. This # 99 sat in Bill’s showroom for decades winding up owned by Mike Holburn who was an employee of Insco Auto Sales for 18 years. It was kept by Mike from 2006 thru 2019 & is still in its completely original state from new w/ultra low milage. Yes its quite “Tatty” as the Brits say but it’s a frickin powerhouse using the the best VW performance products made at that time & still lifts the front wheels off the ground. I am a sucker for prefering on the edge Race Cars that are fully street-able. We’ll enjoy this for the rest of our car time days as its 1 of the coolest alter ego Buggies to the Meyers Manx & would run circles around one.
