In the 1980’s during the period of over excessive spending by the young & wealthy baby boomers, many exotic cars were being made to satisfy the craving of this sector of the market. The Vector M12 was a vehicle designed by the America-based Vector Aeromotive Corporation, and was the first vehicle produced after the company was bought by the Indonesian company Megatech. The original car built was called the W8, a GM based V-8 motor’d “Supercar” that was a failure, do to the high price of manufacturing it as well as the fall of the stock market of 1987. The next generation of Vector was this Vector M12 & could be considered a basic redesign to the Vector WX-3 Show car, which was never released to the public due to the Megatech buyout. Among many small changes to the vehicle’s design, was one fundamental change to the drive train. A 5.7 liter Lamborghini V12 engine, which produced 492 horsepower and 425 lb-ft (576 N-m) of torque at 5200 rpm was chosen to power the car. However the WX-3 had been designed to accommodate a V8, therefore Vector had to completely redesign the chassis to hold the longer V12. The resulting changes forced the cockpit of the Vector M12 to be moved further forward than the WX-3. In total, there were 18 Vector M12s produced (four pre-production models and 14 production models). One of the M12 pre-production cars was converted to motorsport specification by the factory, but it had no success in the few races it entered, as it was forced to retire due to mechanical problems in every race. The Vector M12 was produced from 1995 to 1999. The M12 production run ended when Vector went into debt and couldn’t pay Lamborghini for the engines. This Silver Metallic M12 example has beautiful Navy Blue leather & is a very late production car making it way better than the earliest M12’s. This M12 runs cool & the Air Conditioning is nice & cold. It was sold new in Ft.Lauderdale by the Auto Toy Store. Having just over 3600 original miles on it, this is one incredible investment opportunity for this American Supercar that will not be able to be replaced by anything close in the near future by any US car maker. This is your opportunity to own the prettiest M12 made & may be the most reliable of any of the 14 cars produced.
