Description
This is a great example of what Martin specialized in…making such fabulous sounding small bodied models of all types. This is a very special early production 2 1/2-21 made in 1852 in mostly original condition. Martin Expert, Mr. Graig Hutton states this could be the 1 & only model “21” produced sporting its “Herringbone” rosette. Its Spruce top is quite clean & crack free that’s got some overspray w/2 tiny holes filled from the liklihood of a pickgard once on it. It still has all of its original braces. Its stunning Brazilian Rosewood back & sides have 2 small repaired back cracks & 1 side crack pro-repaired. Its highly unusual sculpted neck has some overspray along w/Martin’s period headstock design & “Cone” shaped heel. It’s been refretted w/proper wire & a repro ebony bridge was added using TJ Thompson’s perfect replacement parts. Its neck set is perfect. It feels very comfy plays great & has a perfect neck angle. It’s got its original New York ink stampings & w/o a serial # as per the factory. Its original open nickel plated tuners are clean & hold tune well. She’s 173 years old w/very early Martin history. She’s excellent overall & comes in her original wood coffin case.
