Description
This is a pure original 1946 Gibson J-45 having its original Sunburst finished Spruce Top & pretty natural finished mahogany back, sides & neck. These early examples had a really huge 1 piece baseball bat mahogany neck w/a dot inlaid rosewood fingerboard. It’s also sporting its very brief post-banner Gold Script Gibson Logo that pre-dated the newer modern block letter gold logo that was post-1947. This logo has been scraped off in the middle but still retains most of its outer edges. Its original war time open back 3-in-line Kluson tuners have their original white buttons & metal plug inserts in their gears instead of post-war time flat head screws. It has a teardrop tortoise’gard used after the fire stripe’gards along w/a small square shaped wooden bridge base. These also had the newest “scalloped” bracing like its Martin competitor. Yes this has been played to death missing a ton of its bursted finish played off showing that this particular example has gobs of tone & playability like very few guitars from this era. Also the back of its body has a few cracks repaired & an early strap button hole in the tip of its headstock. Overall it just gushes w/a cool factor that these mid-40’s J-45’s have. Very Good overall & comes in a decent hard case.
