Description

This is the ultimate all original & perhaps the very 1st production Pre-CBS “Stacked Pot” Jazz Bass w/all the 1st issue features in untouched original condition, it has its original see-thru Blonde finish over a very lightweight Ash body dated 7/60 & weighing in at a scant 8 lbs. 7 oz; these 1st month Jazz Basses are ridiculously rare as we have never seen any ever dated prior to 8/60, its “Unbound” Slab Rosewood Clay Dot neck is super slim as only the 1st ones were & has an all in one logo w/the “counter body” portion inclusive, she has a penciled neck date of 7/60 making it 1 of the very 1st ever produced & perhaps the very 1st “Custom Color” Blonde Jazz Bass ever, it’s sporting a very low serial # (50XXX) stamped on the bottom side of its 4-bolt neck plate, its original Tortoiseshell Nitro pickgard has that luscious color used only in 1960-1, its 2 pickups are super smooth w/that quintessential “Jaco” sound !, its stacked pot date codes are from the 25th week of 1960, its original control cavity has the earliest type copper solder plates, its so cool from its nickel tuners to its threaded saddle bridge w/outside ground wire in place, its all original in all respects & still retains its bridge & pickup covers along with every single screw from new, even a set of original “String Mutes” are in its case, this is from Leo’s earliest “Prototype” Jazz Bass & has a gorgeous patina for a 60 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having a few dings, some worming & checking, she’s still far betta than Excellent, 1 of the best & most desirable examples on Earth, comes complete w/some case candy, a strap & an original Bass brochure in her original Brown Tolex/Orange lined Hard Case. $Not For Sale.
