Description
This early 60’s era of Fender Amps has to be the most desirable period just after the Tweed amps were discontinued. This 1962 Bassman Head Piggyback set has the most preferred 6G6B circuitry w/an “LH” date code from August 1962. The cabinet is a very rare optional cab loaded w/a 1×15″ JBL D130F speaker. Its rough white Tolex is in great shape & its oxblood grill cloth is also quite clean. This Brown Panel circuit has that magical “Presence Control” knobs that drives two vintage RCA 6L6 power tubes w/40 powerful watts of pure tube goodness. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brown Panel circuits respond extremely well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a broad sweep and at around 5 on the volume dial, the amp cascades into very rich, textured tube overdrive that compresses noticeably. Overall both are excellent, freshly serviced by Lee Jackson & is ready to enjoy.
