Description

This is perhaps the earliest production “Duane Eddy” Signature model made simply called a “Jr” to exist, originally this was called the S-300 model in 1960 that Duane personally preferred but never made it into its 1960-1 catalogs, this guitar inevitably became the very 1st DE-400 Standard model while the very 1st few examples did not use this nomenclature, the very 1st production “Jr.” had a Sunburst finish bearing serial # 22163 (from pg. 85 in The Guild Guitar Book by Hans Moust), this one is # 22169 perhaps the very 1st Blonde DE-400 Standard model ever made !, its pretty all Blonde finish looks spectacular over its factory wide grain “Spruce” Top, to note…all DE-400’s had a laminated maple top & not spruce, she has a very grainey maple back & sides, its 3-piece mahogany neck feels perfect, its 2 White D’Armond pickups are full of his classic “Rockabilly” tones, it has a beautiful bound & colorful Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard w/white abalone block pearl inlays, she has all nickel plated parts, its original engraved tuners sport Diamond shaped pearl buttons,  its original Black pickgard lacks Duane’s signature yet has it simply signed on its original truss rod cover, its Guild made Bigsby vibrato & metal bridge are a Duane Eddy must have, its early gold capped knobs complete this package, so rare & so cool, she is 100% original & exceptionally clean overall, she comes with its original serial #’d “warranty hang tag & instruction sheet in its original Black tolex hard case.
