Description

This is one of the most well known Basses in the world made famous by Paul McCartney of the Beatle’s. Paul bought his 1st Hofner, known as the “Cavern” Bass from the German Club, because of its lightweight & a cheap price of about 30 pounds. Paul’s 2nd Hofner was a 1963 very similar to our Bass & he still owns it & tours on it to this day. This cool ’62 example of ours is from a transitional period in between both of Paul’s Basses. Its Sunburst finish is worn but quite cool in all respects. It has a 2 piece “unbound” maple neck w/a stencil gold logo. It has the desirable 2-in-line tuning machines used only during this 2 year period. Its body has a spruce top w/a Hofner decal on it over a flamey maple back & sides. It has a pair of transitional Pickups that have the earlier Cavern’s diamond logo embossed covers w/4 adjustable pole pieces. It has the slimmer pickup surrounds w/side adjustment screws. It has a small pearloid control plate & a long tailpiece. This bass came from Lisbon, Portugal from its original owner whom played the hell out of this bad boy. It has a bill date of April 6th, 1962 which was my 3rd Birthdate & will remain in our collection forever. It is an exceptional player in Very Good all original condition.
