This is another all original early production Pre-CBS Jazz Bass in all original condition, made famous by Jaco as he replaced his Stack Knob pots for a 3-knob setup for that pure unforgetable Jaco tone !, it has its original 3-Tone Sunburst finish over an Alder body that’s lightweight, its “Unbound” Rosewood Clay Dot neck is super slim & has an all in one logo w/the “counter body” portion inclusive, she has a stamped neck date of May 1963 making it 1 of the early “Veneer” rosewood Jazzes ever produced, it’s sporting a very low serial # (97XXX) stamped on its 4-bolt neck plate, its original Tortoiseshell Nitro pickgard has that luscious color used only in 1960-2, its 2 pickups are super smooth w/that quintessential “Jaco” sound !, its pot date codes are from the 20th week of 1963, its original control cavity has the earliest type copper solder plates, its so cool from its nickel tuners to its threaded saddle bridge w/outside ground wire in place, this is from Leo’s earliest type Jazz Basses & has a gorgeous patina for a 59 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having some major player time, she’s Very Good overall, 1 of the most desirable examples on Earth, comes complete w/a nice generic Hard Case.
