This is a very rare model from a small production run of 50 for the Rose Morris distributer in the UK. Its original Fireglo finish has some play time, but has a fabulous patina, this has all the UK features: Double Bound body w/traditional “F” Holes (as compared to the US version having a “Slash” sound hole), unbound Dot Neck, 5 basic Black knobs, outrageous sounding Toaster pickups, stacked white’gards, she has a date code of “DK” from November 1964, its pot codes date from the 50th week of 1964, this is a rare find in 100% original condition. It was complete w/its RM Silver case w/the proper Rick Logo on the outside of its case.

This is a little story about our newest 1964 Rickenbacker “Rose Morris” 1993 Double Bound 12-String that came to me through a dear friend in the UK. It came off the production line November 1964 and found its first and only owner early the next year.During the very early British rock ‘n’ roll boom of 1964 came a band that was extremely popular in Europe known as “The Boys”. These 5 Lads started life in 1964 with all five original members and signed on with Sir George Martin, commonly known as the Beatles Producer. At that very moment they became his next hit band and their name became “The Action”.

The band consisted of Reg King who was the singer, Alan King on rhythm guitar, Roger Powell on drums and Mick Evans on Bass & soon to become their full-time lead guitar player was a Mr. Pete Watson. The band skyrocketed to the top of every chart for the next three years and put them in the likes of the Who, the Yardbirds, the Cream, Manfred Mann and the list goes on & on & on. The Action played at every venue dozens of times every year in the UK and around Europe including its most famous venue, the “Marquee” Club where every famous rockstar played during this crucial growth period from this British music movement.

This wonderful Rickenbacker 12 string has been owned by Pete Watson since early 1965 and played by him at every gig, every television show, every live performance and concert and every last recording that the band ever did. A few of their most famous hits were “Shadows and Reflections”, “Since I Lost my Baby” and “Baby You’ve Got It” amongst so many more, they were on the top charts for nearly 3 solid years. Pete and the original band played a concert for their very last performance together in 2004. He owned it until my buddy purchased it in 2014 personally from Pete and along came a wonderful package of memorabilia and original 45 records.

This has to be the most important all original Rickenbacker 12-string guitars ever produced. It was played on 11 albums w/many hits. This may be one of the most historically significant guitars anywhere, now in the hands of a private citizen (moi) with history known from new. One must consider they only made 25 of these for the UK market in both 1964 and 1965. The first batch all had a flat tailpiece and the new fancy “R” tailpiece became standardized at the end of 1964 as on this example. When must wonder about the half dozen of this same model Rickenbacker 1993 that Pete Townsend famously destroyed on stage along with his Marshall amplifiers & Keith moons drums. How many of these in all original condition or still in existence and how many of these have any sort of prominent musical significance ?

Along with this wonderful 1 of a kind Ricky is this just released 4 CD set called “The Action Shadows & Reflections complete Recording set of 86 recording from their 11 album discography all in 1 set. If you need to hear proof that this is the most recorded on Rick 12-String on Earth…now is proof. What a rare opportunity to acquire such a rare guitar w/history from its 1st owner whom had owned it since new from 1965.
