Description

This was just acquired by us this week from its last caretaker. Its stunning Spruce top is just about perfect. It’s got some of the best book-matched & straight grained Brazilian Rosewood back & sides that are simply perfect. Its got most all Martins best features including its Standard X-bracing, Style 21 rosette, its rare & original tortoise pickgard, Select Hardwood Mahogany neck, Solid Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard w/20 frets and Style 21 inlays w/a 1 11/16″ nut width, Solid Rosewood Belly-style bridge & perfect single line Kluson Deluxe tuners with metal buttons. Now 58 years old, this is a magical investment in all respects. Its near perfect original neck set has low action & the original bridge was taken down just a bit, she needs nothing at all but a good player. It is completely crack free w/no issues at all. It is truly excellent having only aged in color & in its overall tone quality. We luv “21” model Martins for their superior tone quality that’s better than any comparable “28” models. We feel the extra layers of bindings on the outer body crimp its tone volume on any D-28 as this D-21 has 1 layer of tortoise binding which allows more volume of tone to come thru. Other than some weather checking all over, its 1 of the best D-21’s made w/nice choice woods & tone. Comes in a nice period Martin black tolex/blue lined hard case.
