Description
Ampeg made some of the coolest looking and best sounding basses & amps of the 60’s era & innovators in the field with their B-15 “flip top” amp, their upright Baby Bass and this, the AEB-1 solid body bass. This is a 1-off special ordered AEB-1 bass in a solid black finish w/a factory White pickgard (as opposed to a red/black’burst w/a black’gard) for a small music retailer in North Carolina. We purchased it in 2016 from the family who’s father owned that shop & it sat in their closet for the last 50 years untouched. Its got Ampeg’s famous pickup design housing a 2-pole pickup under the pickgard that has a perfect Upright tone for that standup player. Its infamous Scroll Headstock design along w/its F-Holes thru the body are like nothing else at the time…very innovative. It’s the 90th Bass produced from its 1st year produced. They made a Teal’burst & a Copper’burst version but we’ve never seen another Black one especially from its 1 of a kind white laminated pickgard complete w/its black Ampeg logo. Its High quality vintage original tuners keep the instrument well in tune & its neck is straight and plays great all the way up and down. Its complete w/its crazy cool 1-screw flip-away thumb rest & its chrome bridge cover. She’s 9 lbs. 13 oz. w/killer sustain & tone qualities. Other than 1 deep weather check on its right side F-hole, it’s exceptionally clean & has some case candy in its original Black Tolex hard case. $Not For Sale.
