The Rickenbacker Guitar has been quite a famous brand for over 60 years. The Beatles, The Who & The Byrds were all playing their famous guitars & basses early on in their careers for their bright tone & playability. Their most famous basses were clearly the 4000 & 4001 solid body models played by so many famous peeps. In 1966, Rickenbacker introduced their new hollow body bass called the 4005. These were designed to be a similar take on their model 360 guitar having either a hand carved top w/a flat back or w/a double bound body having white binding on both top & back a la George Harrisons 1st 12-string. This is one of those rare hollow basses w/Ricks “Old Style” body design…hence, the 4005 OS was introduced sometimes called a 4005WB for “with binding”. We have acquired this 1-off special ordered 1967 4005 OS in their optional custom color of “Burgandyglo”, a see-thru cherry red finish over its very thin figured maple double bound body. It’s a top of the line model having their famous “Crushed Pearl” triangular inlaid fingerboard & she also sports a pair of “Toaster” pickups w/a single layer white pickgard w/its matching Rickenbacker truss rod cover that completes its very futuristic appearance. Its pot date codes date the 48th week of 1966. Its open back tuners work well & its lucite thumb rest is still intact. Its serial # is GB completed in February 1967. It’s 100% untouched & all original down to its bridge cover. Its excellent overall & comes in a nice fitting shaped black hard case.
