1972 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass
The Rickenbacker 4001 Bass was a whirlwind design when new w/its crested wave body style back in 1961. Its Mapleglo finish is original showing signs of age w/a wonderful patina going on. Its famous “Checkerboard” bound body is stunning & compliments it perfectly. Its groovy “Crushed” Pearl inlaid fingerboard still glistens & feels great. Its maple neck-thru body is wide & flat w/its famous large size headstock w/maple wings & excellent frets. Its Toaster pickup & its lead pickup appear to be original w/non original pots dated to 1973. Its white’gard is a perfect reproduction & she still wears a clear lucite thumb rest & chrome capped knobs. Its Grover tuners work well but she may have come w/old style tuners originally as it has tiny holes filled in on the back of the headstock. Its chrome hardware is still quite clean. It has an LG code dates to July 1972. Its has a very user friendly bridge installed for better intonation & its got an original one in its case pocket. This is a fabulous player & looks excellent, it comes in a nice generic hard case.
