Description

This is where it all began…the very 1st batch of boutique instruments from the Alembic custom guitar & bass maker from the San Francisco area way back in 1971. This example is one of the very 1st top line bases that hit the nail on the head for this innovative bass maker. Serial # 33, made in 1973, this early Series I Short Scale bass became the staple of our favorite bass player of all time, Stanley Clark. Having all of their earliest features & electronics, this Bass is without a doubt one of their most prized pieces of their history. Its Teak & Mahogany construction is incredible & its body shape differs slightly from its more common later production basses. What makes this so cool is its early Series I electronics having its most noticeable “Caramel” colored pickup covers & very early active system. Pictured in an early B & W factory photo of it during production, quite a rare seen from the earliest Alembic days. Its comes with 2 power supplies, 1 antiquated original box from new & 1 later more modern box in a nice hard case.
