Description

This is a 1976 Ibanez Destroyer. It is not a 1975 but darn close. The body wood is beautiful made from Japanese “Sen Ash” similar look to Korina in appearance. Once you play it you can see why EVH loved his Destroyer. As most EVH fans know, Eddie cut the classic masterpiece first album using an 1975 Ibanez Destroyer. This one was completed in June 1976 having an “F76” in its serial #. These guitars have taken off in price since Eddie died and it is understandable because they are so good but you have to get the ones from 1975 or 1976. This is not a 1977 where Ibanez started to change things including making the neck thinner and narrower and the wood was different with a tighter grain. So if you want to get an amazing guitar with historical significance, here it is. Its tones kills it & this guitar roars. Please note the following. There are no breaks or wood repairs. The neck is perfect with some mild figure. The finish is original with a few marks and nicks but nothing major. The Schaller tuners are original. The wiring, pots, knobs & pickgard are original. The pickups are the original Ibanez Super 70s type but missing its covers. This was purchased by a Mr. Bill Mensch new in 1976 from Sam Ash Music from Hempstead, Long Island New York. He finally let her go to me w/some serious anxiety over his 48 years of memories. In fact along w/a photo of himself, he gave me the only photo he ever took of it on his couch from back in 1976. Sam Ash was my original stopping grounds for dreaming of stardom w/my nose against their front window in the mid-70’s. The serial number shows for the Fujigen factory in Japan. It’s excellent overall & all original & comes in its original black tolex hard case w/its original handle in the case.
