Every once in a while you come across something so special that you say to yourself “Man I should have bought that”, well here is your chance to grab a once in a lifetime Stratocaster Hendrix Prototype from the very earliest days of Fender’s Custom Shop, this was an experiment to produce 10 Replicas of what Jimmy Hendrix would have played today, its Olympic White finish has a slightly aged “eggshell” patina going on from the last 27 years living in its case, its 1 piece maple neck has the 1st of the rare reversed lefty headstocks sporting an early Custom Shop logo, to compliment its traditional ’60’s color combo Fender discovered some original Nitrocellulose Tortoiseshell pickgard material for this limited run, in fact its got the same traits as an original having shrank slightly just like it was 1963 all over again, its equipped with a set of hot pickups that sound delicious, these original 10 Strats were all made bearing the serial # 9101 – 9109, Fender gave Buddy Guy the supposed 1st one made # 9101 (see certificate listed), our Prototype bears the serial # 9100 & is the 1st of this very low production Strats produced, having a neck pocket full of Custom Shop markings, this example was made by “Master Builder Extraordinaire” Art Esparza whom has become a legend in his own time, owned since the 90’s by my friend Johnny in Charlotte, North Carolina, we acquired it from him a few years back, its just about dead mint & has always been treated like a piece of artwork & never played, it s comes complete with all of its case candy in its original Tweed hard case.
