Description
Looking for a great playing vintage Gibson flat top with excellent tone that’s all original ? This 1932 L-00 is called the “Tuxedo” model as it came in black with a white pickgard. It appears to be all original finish w/original hardware. It has a mahogany back and sides w/an X-braced spruce top with beautiful black finish all over, its factory white pickgard is quite clean & completely intact. Its got a killer ebony fingerboard that’s 1 11/16″ at the nut on a chunky V profile shaped neck w/a small straight original bridge. The spruce top is white bound w/a silkscreened white script Gibson logo on its peghead. The tuners are wartime 3-on-a side open back Klusons with white buttons. They work very well. Frets are good and the neck is straight. Big sound. Perfect for ragtime and fingerstyle playing. Gibson made a few batches of 14 fret Tuxedo L-00’s with elevated fretboards around 1932, and this is one of those. The general consensus is that with the fretboard elevated off the soundboard, the guitars tend to be louder, which I think is true. This also lets you play with the volume some by altering your pic attack. Overall it’s excellent & she comes in a period non-original hard case.
