1957 Fender Precision Bass

This is the ultimate all original & perhaps the very earliest production Pre-CBS Precision Bass w/a Maple neck & all late ’57 features in all original condition. It has its original slightly faded 2-Tone Brown’burst finish over a very lightweight Alder body dated 9/57 & weighing in at a scant 8 lbs. 12 oz. These early new P Basses were the 1st month made w/Maple Necks also dated 9/57 having the new split pickup design having a really wide neck w/a soft V shape w/a great flat/thin feel like no others. Its original small factory frets are still quite good. It’s sporting a very low serial # (-20XXX) stamped on its 4-bolt neck plate, its original Gold anodized pickgard has that slight faded color used only the 1st produced by September 1957. Its split Pickup is super smooth w/its raised “A” pole pieces having that quintessential funk tone ! The original cloth leads have been extended connected to the new cloth leads now resoldered to the original pots. Its pot date codes are from the 32nd week of 1957, Its so cool from its nickel tuners to its tight threaded saddle bridge, its all original in all respects & still retains its bridge & pickup covers along with every single screw from new. She has a gorgeous patina for a 68 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having some major play time, she’s still rather Excellent. 1 of the coolest & most desirable examples on Earth, she comes complete w/an edgy tweed reissue hard case.
