Description
This is the rarest all original & perhaps 1 of the the very 1st production Pre-CBS “3 knob” Jazz Basses w/all the 1st issue features in untouched original condition. It was owned by its original family from new & sold to Mr. Greg Zukowsky for $200. by his Cousin in 1969 who got it new somewhere in Philadelphia. It has its stunning rich original Sunburst finish that’s unfaded over a grainy Alder body. These 1st 3 knob Jazz Basses started to replace the infamous Stack Knob Basses by July 1961 & are ridiculously rare. Its “Unbound” Slab Rosewood Clay Dot neck is super slim, has an all in one logo w/the “counter body” portion inclusive & she has a penciled neck date of 8/61 making it 1 of the very earliest 3 knobs produced. Its original Nitro Tortoise’gard has that luscious pepperoni hue used only from 1960-2. Its 2 pickups are super smooth w/that quintessential “Jaco” sound & its pot date codes are from the 23rd week of 1961. Its original control cavity has the earliest type copper solder plate. Its so cool from its nickel tuners to its threaded saddle bridge w/outside ground wire in place, its all original in every respect & still retains its original bridge & pickup covers along with every single screw from new. It even has a set of original “String Mutes” still in place that have never been removed & she’s still sporting its original Fender blue wrap flat wound strings. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a 1 owner Jazz Bass from the most desirable periods, it’s 1 of the best & most desirable examples on Earth. What is amazing is that this Jazz Bass was completed the very same month (August 1961) as Jaco’s Bass in our collection. Its got the real deal Jaco tone if you’ve been in search of. She truly museum quality in near mint shape & comes complete in her matching minty original Brown Tolex/Orange lined Hard Case.
