Description
This is a very rare 1964 Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass aka the “Beatle” Bass. It’s got a Hollow-body for that acoustic tonality. Its Redish Brown’burst finish is faded nice all over w/a nice heavy playing patina showing off its rare McCartney features. It’s exactly like Paul’s personal ’63 but w/a bound fingerboard for ’64. Its 2 Staple pole pickups sound great having the pre-1964 pickup surrounds that adjust from the sides. It’s got the large Gold raised logo w/a desirable small Pearloid control panel. It’s sporting its UK serial # 1377 & has its original open back tuners. Its original pickgard is missing in action. A repro bridge is on the way. Fantastic warm and powerful tonality on a featherweight easy to live with example. She’s come from an old friend of 35 years & fellow shop owner from the past, Mr. Sheldon Voss, of the “Musicians Exchange” the absolute iconic concert venue we’ve all seen our favorite bands at. She’s very good overall & fabulous to play or display. She comes in its original hard case.
