Description

The Rickenbacker 4001 is a landmark in design to many bass players that appreciate vintage gear. To say many famous players used them just think of Paul McCartney, Chris Squire & Geddy Lee to name a few. It’s the last of the early 70’s originals & was played out a ton mostly by its original & only owner, Mr. Gary Rivenson, who is seen playing it when he was a mere 20 years old w/very long hair @ Madison Square Garden when his band opened for KC & the Ohio Players. Its famous Burgandyglo finish is deep & rich w/a cool factor that only Rickenbacker used across its guitar & bass lines. Its fabulous “Checkerboard” bound top border is so cool yet experiencing some crystallizing around the edges. Its “Crushed Pearl” triangular fingerboard inlays are so Ricky ! It’s got both its original “Toaster” rhythm & bridge pickups that sound insane. It’s got pot codes that date to 1971. Its serial # is “KK” which dates to December 1971. She’s got 3 of 4 factory Kluson tuners in its case, replaced w/some Grover tuners. Its white single layer pickgard has a big chip missing w/n thumb rest w/chrome capped black nobs. Just the way you want to see it. It plays & intonates quite well. She’s very good overall & comes w/a beat up funky generic hard case.
