Description
This is the ultimate all original & perhaps 1 of the very 1st production Pre-CBS Precision Basses w/a factory custom color Black finish w/a Slab Rosewood neck (having no pencil date as on most pre-1960 Fenders) in untouched original condition. It has its original black finish over a very lightweight Alder body weighing in at a scant 8 lbs. 7 oz. It’s sporting a very low serial # (46XXX) stamped on its 4-bolt neck plate, its original pepperoni colored Tortoise pickgard has that luscious color used only from 1959-1962. Its split Pickup is super smooth w/that quintessential funk tone !, Its pot date codes are from the 9th week of 1960, Its so cool from its nickel tuners to its tight threaded saddle bridge, its all original in all respects & still retains its bridge & pickup covers along with every single screw from new. A Black finish is so tough to prove 1 must take caution. This finish is exactly what you want to see w/its 2 layers, 1 is its Fullerplast sealer w/a Tan undercoat showing that every screw hole is correctly naked making the perfect original factory finish in all respects. She has a gorgeous patina for a 67 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having some decent play time, she’s still rather Excellent. 1 of the coolest & most desirable examples on Earth, she comes complete w/its original brown tolex hard case.
