Description
This is the ultimate all original 1st year of production Pre-CBS “Stacked Pot” Jazz Bass w/all the 1st issue features in untouched original condition from its 1 & only original owner, it has its original 3-tone Sunburst finish over a very lightweight Alder body dated 1961 & weighing in at a scant 9 lbs. 4 oz; these early Jazz Basses are ridiculously rare, its “Unbound” Slab Rosewood Clay Dot neck has the most figured “Birdeye” maple we’ve ever seen on an original “Stack Knob” that’s super slim as only the 1st ones were. It also has an all in one logo w/the “counter body” portion inclusive, she has a penciled neck date of 5/61, the nut has been perfectly replaced, it’s sporting a very low serial # (61XXX) stamped on its 4-bolt neck plate, its original Tortoiseshell Nitro pickgard has that luscious pepperoni color used only in 1960-1, its 2 pickups are super smooth w/that quintessential “Jaco” sound !, its stacked pot date codes are from the 8th week of 1961, its original control cavity has the earliest type copper solder plates, its so cool from its nickel tuners to its threaded saddle bridge w/outside ground wire in place, its all original in all respects & still retains its bridge & pickup covers along with every single screw from new, even a set of original “String Mutes” are still in place under its bridge cover, she has a gorgeous patina for a 64 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having a good amount of back wear, she’s still far betta than Excellent, 1 of the best & most desirable examples on Earth, comes complete in her original Brown Tolex/Orange lined Hard Case.
