Description
These early production Reverse” Thunderbird’s & Firebird’s were so far ahead of time & very few were ever made comparatively to Fender’s P & J Basses. This particular example was ordered in Gibson’s most popular color of a Dark 2-tone Sunburst finish all over its neck & body. Very little yellowing appears yet she has slight playtime all over. These tend to get funky from playing in bars & clubs & get nicotine stained. Its rosewood fingerboard is straight as an arrow & its neck is very playable. It’s nickel plated pickup covers & all parts are all original & faded like they should be. It has some weather checking up here & there down the back of the neck & body. Its 2 original pickups sound like a Jazz Bass w/a thinner nut than most Gibsons & a very straight neck. Its original pickgard is ultra clean & has no shrinking or cracking around the screws. It has its nickel plated bridge & pickup cover is still intact along with/the factory mutes. The best part is that its 3 original pot codes date her to the 14th week of 1964 just for its verification. A rare 9 lb. 2 oz. bass that plays delightfully & sounds great at a fair market value. It’s truly 100% original, 1 of the best available & comes in an original black tolex/yellow lined square hard case.
