This is the ultimate all original & perhaps 1 of only a few original Custom Color examples like it in untouched original condition. Fender added new colors to their option list when CBS bought them in 1965. This example has 1 of their rarest color choices, this stunning original Firemist Gold finish is over an alder body w/a matching Firemist Gold Headstock & weighing in at 9 lbs. 5 oz. These ’65 Jazz Basses are ridiculously rare as we have never seen another exactly like it. She has a stamped neck date of November 1965 making it 1 of the very 1st ever produced in this color w/an “Unbound” pearl dot inlaid Rosewood neck. By January ’66 all necks were White Bound from that day forward as all CBS production traits took over from that point in time on. Its original White pickgard pulls this all together. Its 2 pickups are super smooth w/that quintessential “Jaco” sound !, its pot date codes are from the 42nd week of 1965. It’s so cool from its nickel tuners to its threaded saddle bridge, it’s original in all respects still retaining its bridge & pickup covers along with every single screw from new. This Jazz Bass has a gorgeous patina for a near 60 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having a few dings, some worming & checking, she’s still unfaded & true to its original color & far different from its Shoreline Gold predisessor. It’s excellent overall & 1 of the best & most desirable examples on Earth, comes complete in her original Black Hard Case.
