1969 Hofner Model 490 12-String

This is a cool vintage Hofner 490 12-string guitar w/a Spruce top, curly maple back and sides. Rosewood fingerboard, jumbo round-shoulder neck. It has a large, round-shouldered body and a long 64.5 cm scale. It is very deep, considerably wider at the sides than other models. This was the last year these jumbo-sized bodies were built. From 1969 onwards, many parameters changed. That year they began to be built with the Hofner patented system, which allowed the string angle to be adjusted while simultaneously securing the neck. It has some small dings and scratches in the varnish, but no cracks or repairs. The neck is perfectly straight and very solid; its design allows for easy playing. It has been fully serviced and adjusted as needed. The frets have been reconditioned and polished. All parts are original. The guitar tunes well and is very comfortable to play. The live sound is impressive; it’s a great instrument. Guitars from this year are very hard to find as there wasn’t much production. Its sporting its original serial # & its “made in Germany” stickers & logos on the back of its headstock. It’s excellent overall & comes w/no case.
