1957 Hofner Club 40

We are very pleased to offer this extremely rare early production 1957 Hofner Club 40 serial # 163 in fine all original condition. This appears to be from the Selmer UK distributor. Its beautiful glossy blonde small semi hollow Les Paul shaped instrument with deluxe multi-ply black binding in contrast to the beautiful glossy blonde lacquer finish over the fine German spruce and flamed maple back and sides, all of which is 100% original, no touch up or refinishing.

The Hofner Club 40 is very rare and a very desirable vintage guitar because of its George Harrison and John Lennon association, both of them had one! This exact variant seems to be exactly like George’s 1957 Hofner Club 40 with the exception of the peg head veneer, which could be explained by the difference in retailers. Everything including finish, hardware and electronics are factory perfect and working as intended. Other than a missing pickgard (a new perfect repro tortoise’gard is coming & will be included), she’s guaranteed 100% original with no changed parts, touch up or refinishing. The guitar plays and sounds great the action is surprisingly good the adjustable pickup works great, the tone and volume controls both work and function typically German backwards. She’s excellent overall w/some nice weather checking & patina. She comes in a new shaped hard case.
