Description

This is the ultimate find its 1 of the very earliest production Pre-CBS “Stacked Pot” Jazz Bass w/all the 1st issue features in all original condition, it has its original Sunburst finish over a very lightweight Alder body & weighing in at a scant 8 lbs. 10 oz; these Jazz Basses are ridiculously rare as we have not seen many from 1961 made only thru June 1961, its “Unbound” Slab Rosewood Clay Dot neck is super slim as only the earliest ones were & has an all in one logo w/the “counter body” portion inclusive, she has a penciled neck date of 2/61, it’s sporting a very low serial # (55XXX) stamped on the 4-bolt neck plate, its original Tortoiseshell Nitro pickgard has that luscious color used only in 1960-1 w/1 small top chip missing, its 2 pickups are super smooth w/that quintessential “Jaco” sound !, its stacked pot date codes are from the 39th week of 1960, its original control cavity has the earliest type copper solder plates, its so cool from its nickel tuners to its threaded saddle bridge w/outside ground wire in place w/its original “String Mute” screw holes, still retaining its original bridge & pickup covers, this is from Leo’s earliest Jazz Basses & has a gorgeous patina for a 65 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having some major play time all over, she’s still excellent overall, 1 of the best & most desirable examples on Earth, comes complete in her original Brown Tolex/Orange lined Hard Case.
