Description
For those who luv Les Paul’s, there’s a certain thrill of owning an original Gold Top w/P-90 pickups from the choicest years between 1953 thru 1956. Between 1968-9 Gibson made the new Les Paul Std. model 2nd generation supposedly from leftover 50’s parts & were mostly like this version from 1956 w/a stop bar & a tun-a-matic bridge. This 2nd gen Les Paul Std. has a perfect Gold Top finish that now aged looks like the 50’s yet so clean w/no checking. Its 1 piece mahogany body & very early 3 piece neck feels great. Its large headstock has no volute nor made in the USA stamps. Its 2 P-90’s are super powerful & have cream covers w/a nylon saddled tun-a-matic bridge & stop tailpiece. Still wearing its original double line/double ring Kluson Deluxe tuners & gold capped volume & tone knobs. The original bumble bee caps & pots date to the 52nd week of 1968. She’s has a pro-repaired headstock from a few decades ago (painted black w/a stinger) yet plays fantastic. Its original cream pickgard has a chip out of it. It sports an unusual set of black input jack plate & rare matching factory decorative diamond shaped plate under its lower strap button. She’s excellent overall, a featherweight 8 3/4 lbs. & comes in its original black tolex/yellow lined hard case.
