Description
Epiphone’s Casino is one of the most widely recognized and popular electric guitars in the history of rock and roll. Epiphone’s original semi-acoustic, the Casino was the preferred guitar of John Lennon and The Beatles. The John Lennon “1965” Casino is a replica of the original Casino that Lennon made famous and used throughout his career. In cooperation with Yoko Ono, Epiphone introduced 2 Limited Edition Lennon Casinos. Yoko allowed Gibson to measure and document Lennon’s actual Casino that John used with the Beatles and during his sole career. The result is this limited edition, historically accurate reproduction. Andy Babiuk worked on this project with Epiphone/ Gibson. Includes a deluxe Lennon signature hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity.
The specs of these amazing Casinos were based on the mid 60’s USA Kalamazoo models. It has a 5-ply (maple, birch, maple, birch, maple) laminated body following the classic lines of a Casino, with really nice yellow binding offsetting the natural satin nitrocellulose finish. There’s a slim taper mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with fret end binding and parallelogram inlays. The headstock has the same serial as Lennon’s own Casino (328393). Weight is very comfortable. The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. It’s a Minty example of this rare guitar. It’s used but has clearly been very well looked after, there are no big notable blemishes anywhere. Just some light playwear & some oxidation on the pickup covers. Obviously no breaks, repairs or mods etc. It’s in fully complete condition being # 292 of 1965 produced. This would make an excellent investment piece if that’s what you are interested in. She’s like new complete with every piece of paperwork, a stencil’d carry bag, brochure & its original COA all in its original Brown tolex case.
