2002 Gibson SJ-2000

We have an excellent example of the Gibson Custom Shop J-2000 manufactured in 2004. Its Sunburst finish is delightful over its Spruce Top & very quilty back & sides. It’s got Sspectacular tone, loud with great projection and dynamic range and excellent note separation. This model was designed and supervised by legendary Gibson custom shop chief luthier, Ren Ferguson. The MSRP on this baby in 2004 was $8,500. The J-2000 is a very rare, high-end Gibson custom/limited model from the early 1990s, designed by Ren Ferguson. It’s not a standard production guitar; it was built in tiny numbers and often used exotic woods, heavy abalone, and leaf inlays, making it feel more like a boutique art-piece version of the J-200 concept. It’s often associated with a J-180-style body shape and rosewood back and sides, especially Mystic rosewood. Tonally, it’s known for deep lows, rich overtones, strong sustain, and a lush, piano-like quality rather than the drier punch of a maple J-200. It’s exceptionally clean overall & comes w/its original black tolex hard case.
