Description

This is a beautiful Custom Color example of Gibson’s EB-0 bass, pretty much identical to this by so many famous bass players from 1965 into the mid-70s. It’s a very special ordered example in Gibson’s Ember Red finish all over much like Fender’s Dakota Red finish. It’s an outstanding show piece showing only the slightest play time w/virtually no fade from new. The 30 1/2″ scale neck is chunkier than later examples, with a noticeably wider nut than those made after mid-late 1965. While the early Gibson EB-0 has a certain classic status it is a fairly uncommon instrument in any optional color. Its 1 large nickel plated pickup sounds chunky & oh-so rock & roll. It’s got original pot code dating from the 22nd week of 1965. While traditionally perhaps not to every players’ taste, this style EB-0 is the only bass with the exact sound from Cream to Mountain ! This is the nicest EB-0 we have had, the Ember Red finish retains a nice rich, dark hue. The instrument retains all the original fittings and hardware including the thumb rest, pickup cover and fully functional mute assembly. The pickguard is fully intact with no splits or popped corners. There is some light typical wear to the plating yet it still shines like chrome. The frets show no wear and the fingerboard looks unused. It’s truly near mint, has its original owners manual & comes in its minty original soft shell case.
